Customer Review: Senior Center Coffee Urn
Our Local Kiwanis Club purchased this Coffee Urn for the Wautoma/Waushara County Senior Center, located in the City of Wautoma, Wisconsin. As a self supporting facility, the Senior Center depends on service groups, such as the Kiwanis Club to help support their facility. As a member of the Kiwanis Club of Wautoma, Wisconsin, I was very happy to lend a hand in purchasing this product, knowing that I got the best price from Amazon.Com

In order to obtain the highest quality of roasting, it is essential that the beans were selected and dried with the utmost care and attention. Some producers will use a specific kind of wash. This wash is used to remove the flesh as well as separate the different kind of beans. Beans will float differently depending on their density. This makes it easier to determine which ones should be used and which ones should be removed. However, there are some producers who will use a more complex and time consuming method.

Dry processed beans usually provide the consumer with a less acidic product. Some acidity can be desired in certain blends but too much acidity can be a bad thing.

As beans heat up during the roasting process they produce different aromas and levels of acidity. They also will release their different flavor components. The first stage of roasting is when the beans absorb the heat. The beans will go from green to yellow and then from yellow to brown. Green does not necessarily mean a color but rather fresh or not yet roasted. Roasting when properly done will smell like popcorn or toast.

When the temperature is about 350 degrees Fahrenheit the sugars will caramelize. This is of course helped along by the increase in moisture temperature of the skin. Reaching the proper amount of caramelized sugars is important to develop a good brew during coffee roast.

Then at about 400 degrees Fahrenheit the beans should expand and reach about double what their original size was. They should also be light brown, but this can vary depending on what kind of beans are being used. They should also reduce in weight to about 5% less than their original weight. Then as the temperature continues to increase the beans will lose more weight and then release CO2. When the temperature hits about 450 degrees Fahrenheit, the beans should be a medium to dark brown and should be oily. Often there is a loud pop heard at this stage which is known as the second crack phase. This is where over roasting can occur and care and attention is necessary. Burnt taste can occur when the oils are boiled off and combine with the oxygen in the air. The goal is to have the perfect balance and combination of bitterness, acid, and a wide variety of different profile characteristics.

The body of a coffee is slightly misleading. It does not necessarily refer to the actual thickness of the coffee. In actuality it refers to the proteins and fibers that are found in the coffee. It specifically refers to the feeling on the tongue when it is rubbed against the roof of the mouth. It is fat content in the beverage that is largely controlled by the roasters and not the brewers. Unfortunately too light of a coffee will usually contain a bitterness in the final result. However, too dark a brew with sometimes produce too much of a chocolate tone with a burnt taste. Experimentation is the best way to find the coffee the best suits your desires without needing to go anywhere, even if it's nearby. With this said, its time to get out your cappacino, coffee and espresso maker.

Leroy Calstard's informative papers are published on several websites linked to home espresso machines. You might see his observations on espresso maker at http://www.coffee-espresso-maker-tips.com and many different sources for espresso maker knowledge.

Customer Review: Well worth the price.
I have owned Mr. Coffee's and various types of perculator type coffe makers over the last 38 years, but I have never had a coffee brewer/maker that made coffee as good as the Bunn home brewers. The first one I bought lasted over 10 years. I discovered that I could have fixed it myself with a new top water resevoir after I had bought a new one. As long as you clean them regularly, they will last a long time. One hint to good coffee from the Bunn, use filtered or distilled water if you live in the city. Chlorine will make the coffee taste bitter, regardless of the coffee brewer.

Continuing with our Green Bean Series, this month we're going to take on defects in wet processed Arabica coffee beans; their cause, how to identify them and the effect they have on the roast.

Our "Roasters Tools - Green Bean Series" is a five part evaluation of how the characteristics of green coffee beans affect the outcome of the roast.

Roasters who consistently purchase strictly top grade premium coffees may have only rarely been confronted with defects, while the majority of roasters run across them much too often, even when presented with what is being sold as "Specialty" grade coffees.

The fact is, any one of these dozen defects will negatively affect the quality and alter the taste of the coffee you're producing. These defects are both identifiable and preventable.

The defects in this article are different than the "formation" defects we talked about in a previous article.

With that in mind, we aim to give you a very straightforward, to the point identification of what these defects look like, their causes, and how they can affect the profile of your roast.

The Twelve Key Defects To Look Out For:

    1. Faded Beans
    2. Amber Beans
    3. Coated Beans
    4. Green Water Damaged
    5. Pulper Damaged
    6. Insect Damaged
    7. Immature Beans
    8. Foxy Beans
    9. Triple Center Cuts
    10. Stinkers
    11. Over-Fermented
    12. Diseased

    FADED BEANS

Faded beans can be a result of either over drying or absorbing excessive moisture, depending on the environment. Either way, faded beans have a low resistance to environmental factors.

The effect on the roast is that they give a dull roast regardless of the roasting profile. The result is a soft bean with musty and woody flavors in the cup. And, the percentage moisture loss will be very high. The color of these beans is pale, whitish brown.

Normally, they result from beans that have a high moisture content (11% - 13%) and when stored in a warehouse, they'll tend to dry out. In the process of drying out, and because they are not in contact with direct sunshine, these beans tend to fade.

Instead of drying, these beans are actually rotting and developing molds inside. It's these molds that cause the beans to dry excessively, producing their pale to whitish brown color.

In addition, during the drying of wet or dry processed beans, the coffee can be negatively affected if not properly exposed to sunshine at the appropriate stage in the drying process.

Another cause is when coffee has been over-hulled using a hammer mill. In this case, the beans will come out with a dull color as a result of the outer cells being bruised and microscopic dust permeating the outer layer of the beans.

One final factor that can contribute to the fading of coffee is from older coffee that has been kept in a warehouse for two to three years or more, causing the beans to dry out, develop molds and other negative consequences.

    AMBER BEANS

These beans have a bright shiny gold color. The cause is due to mineral deficiencies in the soil (including iron).

When you roast these beans, the cup will be lacking in acidity, with a flat harsh body and a bitter flavor. Also, the roast produced by these beans will be very dull in color.

    COATED BEANS

These beans have a sticky silver skin caused by either overbearing or from being drought affected. The characteristics of these beans look whitish, rough and display microscopic lines from the silver skin.

In the process of roasting, you'll experience soft beans with excessive chaff. The roast can result in negative effects in the cup, including excessively high grassy, hay, earthy, woody, greenish and potato flavors.

    GREEN WATER DAMAGED

These are fully processed beans that, when hulled, get in contact with water where a chemical reaction takes place, turning the beans a greenish color. This situation results in the beans becoming moldy and toxic.

    PULPER DAMAGED

In the process of going through the pulping machine, coffee beans can get stuck, creating excessive pressure which causes the beans to become wounded.

These wounded beans will burst and then begin to slightly oxidize, become contaminated with water and over ferment, causing molds which result in earthy, leather and musty flavors.

In addition, the roasted beans will be uneven; some will be split, while others will appear round and mixed together with the solid beans.

    INSECT DAMAGED

Berry moths inject the coffee cherry in the process of laying eggs, creating a black needle-like hole.

Antestia bugs damage beans causing them to bruise, which produces rough black to yellow-like colored spots.

Beans with these types of insect damage will give a soft roast and the beans will tend to shrink, creating dominant musty, alkaline and salty flavors.

    IMMATURE BEANS

Picked under-ripe, often as a result of overbearing and drought affected conditions, the characteristics of immature beans include a rough surface and greenish color with a sticky silver skin and will usually have thin edges.

The roast will be very dull, with open center-cuts, soft beans and subsequently produce no acidity, heavy body, with greenish and grassy flavors.

These beans can also lead to Quakers in the roast; visible only after roasting by their pale appearance and flat peanut butter taste. Avoiding the purchase of immature beans is the best way to avoid contamination by these defective beans.

    FOXY BEANS

As you might imagine, the name comes from the color of a red fox.

This rusty-red color is generally brought about by the beans being over-ripe. These beans tend to have a dead embryo and will give you fruity fermented and nutty flavors.

    TRIPLE CENTER CUTS

These are deformed beans caused by malnourishment due to either drought affected conditions or lack of minerals, creating ragged beans with multiple center cuts.

During the roast, these beans can split open at their double or triple center cuts. They are fragile, soft and very permeable; which will over roast, creating a heavy body, a flat cup and a smoky, burnt taste.

    STINKERS

Stinker beans can have a normal formation, but have a dead embryo and are yellow in color caused by over-fermentation and/or over-ripe. If crushed, broken or cut open when raw, they put off an order that's very unpleasant.

Even one or two stinkers in your roast can ruin the whole batch and give you a foul cup.

    OVER-FERMENTED

These beans look soiled and have a tobacco color.

When roasted you'll get a pulpy, sour flavor and unclean, dirty cup; with a smell of rotting flesh or a cow shed aroma. If only slightly over-fermented, your roast may give sour and onion flavors.

    DISEASED

These defects are brought about by the coffee being affected by various diseases like CBD (Coffee Berry Disease) and Leaf Rust.

When disease strikes a coffee farm, the mother plant will produce beans that are premature. This will affect the berry before it ripens, usually at the milk stage, and the beans will either not develop at all or only partially develop, with a very small berry or nonexistent berry inside the parchment within the cherry.

The deformed part of these beans looks somewhat brownish to very dark brown in color, often with deformities that resemble a chipped off piece where the bean is left with dark brown marks which go deep into the bean. The deformed part of these beans is generally flaky and ragged in formation.

These small diseased beans will be only partially developed, but can still be harvested and end up mixed with other beans of normal quality, then sold in the marketplace.

    SO, WHAT DO YOU DO?

    • First, avoid these nasty defects when you're purchasing green coffee whenever possible.

    • Second, educate your customers about the tastes inherent in a quality cup. An uneducated palette can even get accustomed to over-fermented, moldy, musty, peanut-buttery and other flavor defects that are actually toxic when ingested into the human body!

    • AND, continue your quest to create the perfect roast!

Melitta 5 Cup Non Digital Coffee Maker with Removable Water Tank

Melitta On/Off power switch. Removable water tank with handle. Swing-out removable cone filter basket. Auto pause and pour. Hidden cord storage. Color: Black
    Customer Review: Leaks
Makes good coffee, but the tank leaks :( And the carafe cracked on the bottom already; from the heat? Well the price was right--I paid < $7.00 for this, with free shipping. But really, it's not worth it. May be a disposable price, but I don't agree with a disposable coffee maker--it will fill up the landfills quickly.
    Customer Review: Awful
I bought this item for $6.87, on the theory how much could I lose. I lost $6.87. She stopped pumping the water thru. Amazon should discontinue the item and Melitta should recall them and throw them all out.

How much does your home really say about you?

If you are like a lot of people your house has plenty of pictures and fun trinkets that represent some parts of your life, but why not take that to the next level and really show off who you are and what you like through your coffee and end tables selections.

Maybe you've never seen them before. Or, maybe you've seen them but didn't know what to do with them, but there is a whole market of display top coffee and end tables that can help you add a much more personal touch to your furniture. Consider these uses for this style of table:

Travel - If you are proud of your jaunts around the world, then you may want to look into travel display coffee and end tables for your home. Collections - Are you an avid collector of something small? Whether it's coins, paper money, thimbles, stamps, shells or any other small items that you have been gathering, piece by piece, why not show off the hard work you have done by putting them in a display top table? You can even help your guests know what they are looking at by labeling the individual items that are underneath the tabletop.

Family History - What family doesn't want to brag about their history? Whether it's ancient family history or more modern history, you can get away with a lot of bragging by having the items you want to show off in display top coffee and end tables in your living room. Either way, it will be a great personal display that will give an insight into your family.

Themes - If you are like most people, you have a 'theme' or two to your home. It could be nautical, fantasy or even old country. No matter what the theme, a set of display top coffee and end tables will do the trick to add to it. If you have small collectibles that go with your theme, you may be afraid to leave them on a tabletop, for fear they will be knocked over. In a display table, you can show them off to the world, knowing they will still be there, and unharmed, every day.

When purchasing display top coffee tables or end tables, you may be able to take the easy route and find ones that go with the furniture you already have. If not, never fret; you should be able to find some of these in a base wood that you can stain or paint to match the rest of your dcor theme.

Choosing a good coffee maker is not a decision to be taken for granted. If you are going to spend money on your favorite coffee, you will want to make sure the coffee maker you choose is of good quality and has the features you want. The majority of coffee makers are generally quite good and you will notice no difference in the taste of your coffee from one brand to another. There are some basic features to look for when choosing a coffee maker and some luxury features that may give you a better tasting cup of coffee

The first decision you must make in choosing a coffee maker is what type of filter you would prefer. You can choose a basket type filter or a cone shaped filter, the difference in the two being different contact times between the coffee grounds and the water. A basket type filter seems to provide a longer contact time between the water and the coffee grounds, so if a basket filter is your preference, make sure you use coffee grounds that are fairly large. Cone type filters are generally less prone to spillage. If you are considering a gold tone filter, it will give your coffee a richer taste, but the upkeep may not be worth the small difference.

The color of your coffee maker is not a major concern, but keep in mind that if you choose a color that is pleasing to you, your coffee will seem to taste better. The only real issue involved in the color of your coffee maker is to remember that white stains easily and tends to look old rapidly. A dark color will look new a lot longer than a white coffee maker. Coffee makers with a pot that has a long neck will be harder to clean. If you cannot easily wash the coffee pot with soap and water, your coffee will taste stale over time due to the build up of residue that cannot be cleaned easily. Make sure your entire hand can fit inside the coffee pot to make cleaning easy.

Other than the basic features, which include color, filter, ease of cleaning, etc., there are some additional features that you may want to consider. If you don't mind your coffee grounds being exposed to air overnight, a timer is a wonderful thing to have. Timers will allow you extra time in the mornings and if you choose a coffee maker with an attached grinder, the noise would probably eliminate your need for an alarm clock. A feature that is often overlooked is the shape of the housing around the coffee pot. Many manufacturers are making the housing larger so that the coffee in the pot stays hotter. The housing area in any good coffee maker should cover at least half of the coffee pot, the keep heat in.

In general, coffee that is freshly ground tastes better. Grinders that are attached to coffee makers are a bit of a hassle. They make the coffee maker harder to clean and the coffee beans are not always ground uniformly. If you want a coffee maker with an attached grinder, look for a burr grinder rather than a blade grinder. You may also want to look into a coffee maker with a built in water filtration system. Filtered water does tend to make the coffee taste better, but purchasing distilled or purified water can serve the purpose just as well as a built in water filtration system.

For the perfect pot of coffee, the water temperature needs to be around 200 degrees Fahrenheit. In general, the less expensive coffee makers do not reach this temperature. Most of the better brand names will advertise the temperature you can expect your coffee to reach while brewing. Choosing the right coffee maker is not easy. Make sure you purchase from well-known manufacturers. You will be able to find replacement parts and will be assured of an acceptable level of quality. Choose a coffee maker that meets your basic needs and any has additional features you desire.

    Delicious Selection of Coffee Blends

There was time in American when the choice was either drip or instant and sugar or milk. It was all about Folger's coffee. Then, the world exploded with options, from Kenyan Peaberry to Brazilian Bahia. Today, there are varieties in terms of style, country and blend to make even the expert coffee drinker pause to think for a moment.

It should come as no surprise that Brazil, the world's largest coffee producer, has some of the most wonderful blends and aromas, such as the Minas Gerais. With one-third of its land suitable for growing coffee trees, Brazil certainly has enough bean potential to work with and create these delicious brews.

The second largest in volume is Columbia, but perhaps the country most commonly associated with coffee growing. Columbia produces a light, sweet coffee made from Narino or Popayan that is superior to most. It comes in either excelso or supreme.

Beyond Brazil and Columbia, there is still a wide array of blends distinct to different parts of the globe all adding their own unique color to the coffee palate of choices.

Mexico, for instance, refuses to be beat by its neighbors South America or Central America. Its small coffee beans produce a light acidity giving the brew a slight mellow taste. Cuba, on the other hand, produces a strong cubano coffee that one drinks like a tequila shot.

Fine aged coffees can be found in Indonesia where the warmer climate produces a deep, less acid brew, while its nearby coffee producer Malaysia produces a fairly strong coffee due to its use of a muslin bag in the brewing process. The Liberica is, certainly, a brew that coffee drinkers should experience.

Thailand is known for its chicory-tinged brew served with condensed milk over a cup of ice for a chilled twist to the traditional cup of coffee.

The Kona is a medium-bodied, sweet brew found in Kona while a rich flavored Java can be found in Sumatra. The Beanya produced in Kenya it's a deep, smooth brew yet with a slight undescribable aftertaste.

The process of roasting beans, then crushing and filtering through hot water originated in the fifteen century and has produced many delightful tastes for the coffee lover.

Of course, Europe will not accept second place and, as such, coffee drinkers in France favor the half coffee-milk blend, caf au lait. Austria still prefers its one-third regular and two-thirds dark blend which has been a traditional Austrian blend for years.

However, for me, I like the good old fashioned black coffee. This is not to mean I do not enjoy specialty blends, but just give me a cup of coffee. But, all coffee lovers have their own favorites. Go out and try all of the different blends and flavors available today!

Customer Review: Not bad -- just wish the coffee was hotter
My wife and I love to wake up to hot coffee every morning. We used to own a Braun coffee maker with a timer, and it worked well for us for many years. When it finally bit the dust, we pulled out a Gevalia coffee maker that we got for free. We hated it, mainly because it was difficult to fill without splashing water over the kitchen counter, and the coffee just wasn't as hot as our old Braun. I did quite a bit of research online, and used the reviews from Amazon and Consumer Reports to decide which coffee maker to buy next. I settled on this one, mainly because I bought the scaled down version (without the timer) to use at work and it was easy to fill and clean. My wife and I do enjoy this one, but the coffee just isn't as hot as what came out of our old one. It is easy to use, and does a reasonably good job. Setting the timer is straightforward. The only other criticism I have is I wish it made 12 cups.
    Customer Review: Braun KF590 Coffeemaker
Our old Braun coffeemaker had died and I went out and bought a different brand maker which did not satisfy me at all; so I returned it and got this Braun with which I am very happy. Simply put, it makes good coffee and has features that are just about perfect for the family.

For coffee lovers, the rich smell of freshly ground coffee beans in the morning is enticing. The aroma fills the house and you can almost taste the coffee before you pour it in your cup. The delightful aroma increases as the coffee brews and you stand ready with your mug in your hand just waiting to take that first delightful sip. For coffee lovers such as this, an antique coffee grinder is a welcome kitchen appliance.

Reasons to Buy an Antique Coffee Grinder

You can buy pre-ground beans in packages or cans, but there is no comparison to the taste of the freshly ground ones. You can also buy whole beans at the grocery store and grind them there, but if the person who used the machine before you ground a different flavor of bean, then that flavor could change the flavor of the ones you choose to grind.

You also have to grind all of the beans at once, instead of grinding them as you need them. Grinding them all at once will still allow that fresh taste to come through in the first cups that you brew but the flavor may decrease with each successive cup that you make. That's why it's better to own your own coffee mill. A lot of people purchase electric coffee grinders. They work well but they make a lot of noise. There's also the chance that it may heat up the beans and take away from the great flavor.

Unlike their electric cousins, antique coffee grinders grind the beans to the proper texture with the added benefit of not overheating the beans. Another reason to own one is that they are beautiful objects, rich in history. Since they come in different styles, you can find one that will go well with whatever decor you have in your kitchen.

What Styles do They Come in?

Some antique coffee grinders mount on the wall, while others are countertop models. They are made from a variety of materials, one of which unpainted wood. These have handles that are made of cast iron and have intricate designs painted on them. There are other collectible coffee grinders, such as the Parker Nation Coffee mill. This mill was created circa 1905, in Connecticut. The beautiful bronze finish at the top sets them apart from other antique coffee mills. Another popular one was made in the 1920s, during the famous Art Deco era. Its sleek design makes it an attractive addition to any kitchen.

An antique coffee grinder is a great investment, not only for the wonderful coffee it provides but also because it's attractive and lends a sense of history to your home

The following article and other articles that have been written about coffee is what it takes to get paid to drink coffee. Pesticides are chemicals that are sprayed on food to prevent bacteria growth and also infestation from insects and animals. Coffee plants are no exception; many large growers spray their plants on a regular basis with pesticides and chemicals to keep the plants producing throughout the season. While this allows for the growers to produce their beans more efficiently, the chemical and pesticide residue can eventually reach human consumption even after the beans are roasted.

There are some severe side effects that can evolve from consuming coffee beans laced with traces of pesticide. Depending on the type of pesticide used the side effects that are first noticed are rashes on the contaminated skin and surrounding areas, respiratory distress such as difficulty in breathing or being able to take a breath, in some cases even paralysis or death.

Pesticide poisoning can stem from either inhaling the chemical, ingesting it through food or drink or by simple eye or skin contact. While the symptoms can be hard to diagnose by a medical professional as they mimic other conditions, the pesticide usually has already done damage to the immune and internal systems.

When looking for the best coffee, look for a coffee that is grown in nutrient rich soil in Africa, 100% organically from the purity of Mother Nature without the harmful interaction of chemicals and pesticides. Nothing is more appetizing to the palette as a healthy, flavorful cup of coffee.

Now that your coffee is 100% certified Organic and 100% pesticide we find all the reasons why you should get paid to drink coffee.

Do you love to drink coffee? Does your family and friends love coffee as much as you do? Do you want to make money? If you can answer yes to these questions then you should be getting paid to drink coffee.

Getting paid to drink coffee is even easier than it sounds. If you think about it, millions of people consume coffee each and every day. The huge coffee restaurants and kiosks are making a mint off of all of the different styles and flavors of coffee that exist in the market today by selling them to busy commuters and coffee connoisseurs around the globe. The home market for coffee is booming with the sale of new and improved coffee makers and machines as well as coffee itself.

If you could share your love for coffee with everyone you know and share with them a way to generate their own income you have created a simple way to show them how the plan works.

Keeping all doors open and instilling an open mind is the best way to succeed with a coffee business. Determination and a little hard work will take you places you have only imagined and the wealth can be substantial. There is no telling what a conversation over one little cup of coffee will do.

Here are some facts about the relationship between coffee and asthma. Regular coffee drinkers have about 1/3 less asthma symptoms than those of non-coffee drinkers according to a Harvard researcher who studied 20,000 people.

For the past several years, many experts have touted how horrible coffee was for our health and that the drinking of caffeinated coffee should be immediately ceased. Recently, however, several studies have shown that caffeinated coffee can actually be extremely good for people. One of the groups of people who can reap health benefits from drinking caffeinated coffee is those people who suffer from asthma.

In particular, drinking caffeinated coffee in the situation of an emergency onset of asthma can allow the patient to breathe easily. Doctors have recommended coffee as an emergency way of treating asthma patients who find themselves with a sudden onset and no medication for many, many years.

In Scotland, as evidenced by the Edinburgh Medical Journal, asthma and coffee are good for each other. While not recommended for exclusive treatment, one to two cups of strong coffee may help open airways.

This coffee and asthma treatment can help a patient who is suffering from an onset of asthma symptoms and finds himself without an inhaler breathe more easily until the inhaler can be obtained. This emergency treatment has proven extremely effective due to the similarities between caffeine and a tried-and-true asthma medication known as theophylline.

The similarities between these two chemicals lead doctors to routinely advise patients who are about to undergo tests for lung function to avoid coffee and other caffeinated beverages for one to two days prior to the time of the test.

Several large coffee and asthma studies conducted in the past few years have examined the relationship between drinking coffee and the prevalence of asthma. A study of over seventy thousand Italians showed that there was a significant reduction in the appearance of asthma amongst patients who would regularly drink coffee.

The risk of asthma symptoms fell by 28% when patients drank three or more cups of coffee every day.

In 1992, the Second National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES II) examined over twenty thousand Americans. The study found that the risk of symptoms from patients with asthma going into the study fell dramatically (over 29%) when patients who regularly drank coffee were compared with patients who did not drink coffee on a regular basis.

In addition, the risk of patients suffering from wheeze fell almost 13%. A relationship was also found between the amount of coffee consumed and the effects gained by the asthma patients. Those who drank more coffee had fewer symptoms; those who drank less coffee had more symptoms.

Another smaller coffee and asthma study was performed on nine adult asthmatics using four daily doses of caffeine similar to the doses contained in coffee. This study showed a dose response effect of caffeine on forced expiratory volume (FEV), forced expiratory flow (FEF) and specific airway conductance (Gaw/VL). This data also suggests that caffeine is an effective tool to use in opening airways during an onset of asthma.

While doctors will never advise drinking coffee as the sole treatment for asthma as they did hundreds of years ago, they do agree that the caffeine found in coffee is particularly beneficial in an emergency situation. Anecdotal evidence shows that people have used coffee in situations where inhalers were completely unavailable, such as when on vacations and on an airplane. Coffee is particularly useful in these situations, as the patients might otherwise suffer serious consequences due to their inability to breathe properly.

    Black & Decker 12-Cup Coffeemaker

  • 12-Cup Spacemaker Coffee Maker
  • Perfect Pour Glass Carafe
  • Programmable Digital Clock
  • Sneak-a-Cup feature
  • LCD Display
  • Auto-Off
  • Removable Reservoir
    Customer Review: Terrible, Terrible Product
From the very moment we purchased the spacemaker, we had problems. Primarily, and completely unacceptably, this unit steams condensation to the bottom of the coffee grind resvoir and then drips a nice large puddle onto your countertop everytime you use it. It is a terrible product and the problems occurred immedietly, not over time. Don't purchase this coffee maker.
Customer Review: A little reengineering fixes it
This coffeemaker is basically a good product, but as many people have remarked, the filter basket does not adequately catch in place. If it slips forward, the sneak-a-cup feature closes the drip hole and the basket can overflow. Although this hasn't happened to me in actual use, I can easily make the basket slip by bumping the cabinet where it's mounted. This is an egregious design flaw and I can't imagine how B&D could have "engineered" the coffeemaker so poorly. However, there's an easy fix. Simply cut two quarter-inch strips of duct tape and apply them to the tracks that the basket slides on. That raises the basket a little and causes the catch to hold more securely. If it needs more hold, add another strip. Problem solved! In addition, mounting the unit was very difficult. I had to buy longer mounting screws as the supplied ones were too short. But once the unit was mounted, the installation was very solid--much better than the rickety older versions. Having solved these problems, I'm pretty happy with my unit.

Costa Rica is known for being a storehouse of high-quality gourmet coffee and consequently coffee is regarded as the primary drink of this part of the world. It is the healthiest drink that one can ever enjoy. Modern day researches have identified coffee to have highest concentration of useful antioxidants when compared to other popular drinks. These antioxidants help to initiate the healing process in your system and increase your immunity assisting the destruction of the free radicals which can lead to a dangerous disease like cancer.

Drinking coffee is a wonderful remedy for staying away from heart diseases, diabetes and stroke. Recent studies have revealed that gourmet coffee is an extremely good preventive measure for Parkinson's disease. Drinking coffee regularly supplies adequate antioxidants needed for the toxin-release of your body.

However, health benefits are easily achievable if you learn to make a perfect cup of gourmet coffee. This will make your kid drink at least a glass of delicious coffee everyday. Learn different other gourmet coffee recipes, so that the taste of coffee doesn't become monotonous to your child. Desserts like Caramel Macchiato, Cappuccino and Latte can be some nice options for you.

The ultimate buy for all gourmet coffee lovers is a home coffee-roaster. Buy the green coffee beans; roasting your own coffee beans takes around 20 minutes of time. The best thing about this kind is the aroma of fresh coffee, but the most significant fact is that it is even better for your overall health.
Spending a few days of leisure at the magnificent land of Costa Rica is even more valuable due to the abundance of healthy coffee beans.

The Techie Stuff: Setting Up Your Coffee Makers Online Storefront

It always seems to me that coffee tables are often expensive and not always of the best quality. I wondered whether I might be able to get a better deal by buying online.

Since they are relatively small items of furniture, it appears that coffee tables should cost relatively little. My own experience has been quite the opposite.

Although there are cheap options available, they generally look cheap. They lack strength and sometimes look as though they will collapse rather too easily, particularly under the weight of too many magazines!

It surely doesn't seem too much to ask that you should be able to buy a good quality coffee table at an affordable price. I'd never previously bought any furniture from an internet retailer, but I thought I'd take a quick look at what was available.

The first thing that I noticed was just how many companies offer furniture for sale online. Despite the fact that I'd never previously purchased furniture in this way, it was clear that there must be a high demand, otherwise these retailers couldn't possibly survive.

Even when limiting my search to the particular type of items that I was looking for, there still seemed to be hundreds of options.

Some of the companies were well known stores, while others were completely new to me. It was noticeable that many of the same ranges were available from a number of different internet retailers.

I eventually opted for an oak coffee table. I liked the fact that it looked very solid - I was certainly hoping to get many years use from it.

By selecting a wooden table, I felt confident that it would match the colour scheme in my living room and would continue to do so, meaning that I wouldn't have to buy a new table each time I decorated.

The best news of all was that it was 40% cheaper than those that I'd seen in shops.

A quality table at a good price - I couldn't have asked for much more!

You can read more about buying an oak coffee table online, with Keith Barrett's other articles. This article may be used by any website publisher, though this resource box must always be included in full.

I think advertising is going crazy at the moment over SMO using guerrilla tactics, fancy viral videos, flash games, and a multitude of other fickle engagement strategies to get people talking or thinking about their brand online. There is a false perception, I believe, that if you can get a lot of people to view something, that automatically translates to success. But how is it successful? It's not that difficult to get people interested in something - I watch funny youtube videos all the time.

However I think that frequently, advertisers do not understand the difference between interest and action. You can release a viral video and get 100,000 people to be interested in it, but few may act on it - or even know that it is associated with a particular brand. Shifted Pixels raised some important questions in a recent blog post on what brands should consider before employing a social media agency.

What is the point of advertising? TO SELL. Pure and simple - at the end of the day, it is to sell, and getting the attention of consumers momentarily in the social media space is of low commercial value to a brand. Social media optimisation should not be viewed as a short term strategy that is campaign based. Doing this often just creates a shark fin on a graph - Momentary interest which can grow exponentially, but then you suffer a huge drop in interest (which is also exponential) which makes you a blip in the highly contested world of the internet.

Andrew Chen wrote a great article using Metcalf's Law to understand how applications grow exponentially on social networks and the danger of the corollary: Eflactem's law. Andrew argues that growth and retention relies on perceived value by users, and as you lose users, the value of your network decreases exponentially.

Creating value takes time. If you are using Twitter, build a following of hundreds by posting great content every day. Answer people's questions and engage with your 'friends'. SMO is about bringing your brand down to the personal level. Brands should no longer be anonymous - it's an incredibly powerful marketing tool to have a representative of your company having conversations with consumers - like Matt Cutts from Google. Even though Google is enormous, Matt's blog brings it down to the personal level.

    Google is my friend!

Get your staff blogging and spreading the brand essence! Don't be an advertiser, be a friend. If someone says something negative about your brand online, approach them and appologise - offer them a discount, or give them something free.

If you are using facebook - have a group which offers users discounts, promotions, and content which is updated frequently. Invite key members to try new products and make them feel like they are connected to the brand in a meaningful way. Update your blog's content daily and network with bloggers relevant to the space you are in - Create a 2 way dialogue that is actually meaningful.

Nielson suggests we are now bombarded with around 3000 messages per day which has resulted in lower cut through and responsiveness from consumers due to an information overload. Worse still, only 7% of television advertisements can be differentiated from the rest, meaning advertising is becoming less relevant, more generic and is yielding lower returns on investment.

The human brain does not have the capacity to interpret this much information which results in what Georg Simmel called the 'blas attitude'. The basic premise is that the human brain interprets the world via a process of differentiation and modern society is now so complex that we are seeing 'an intensification of nervous stimulation'. The blas attitude is a response to this - the reason we don't talk to the people sitting next to us on the bus. It's not that we stop perceiving the things around us, it's merely blunting the discrimination because we don't have the capacity to comprehend it all.

Don't do some stupid gimmicky campaign which no one will remember in one weeks time - sure, you may get 50,000 views and the client will be happy, but this won't translate to any revenue for the company.

SMO is about building your brand into conversations over time and we need to move away from viewing it as a quick win. Listen to your customers - Using buzz metrics, Nike realised one of the keywords that kept coming up was 'sweat shops' so they focused on campaigns to respond to this. SMO is very broad, but ultimately it comes down to creating high value for consumers. You've just got to work out what constitutes 'value' to you target audience.

My interest in social media from an advertising perspective begun about 3 years ago when I was working in cafe's as a barista. The success of a cafe relies heavily on positive word of mouth, and the way to create positive WOM is to ensure great service, good food, and top notch coffee.

It seems strange, but I have learned more about social media optimisation from working in a cafe and engaging with cafe culture than I have reading articles, books and talking with advertising people. The key is to differentiate yourself by being the best - to be remarkable as Seth Godin might say. Then, there is a natural talkability. People will argue online and offline whether you are better than another cafe, and they will champion you to all their friends.

The reason cafe's are a great example from an SMO perspective is that everyone has their favourite one. Where to get the best coffee is often debated and everyone loves to find a new great place to try out. It is a topic many Australian's like to talk about and this can be seen with the explosion of PR articles in traditional print. Suddenly everyone is talking about the importance of freshly roasted coffee, and what goes in to making the perfect espresso.

If you own a cafe, be an active participant in the coffee world - an active member in coffee forums, coffee related blogs, CRM programs etc. Get involved in coffee competitions, write articles for print, post 'how to' videos on youtube for making the perfect coffee, and network as much as you can. Doing this influences the opinion leaders - the coffee nerds - the people who drink double ristretto's - the people whose friends all ask them where they should be getting their coffee.

I have seen cafe's invite coffee geeks to their cafe 'after hours' for coffee tasting sessions, to talk about their espresso machines, and check out new beans from around the world. These people then talk about you online, to their friends, and their friends talk to their friends.

If you own a wine cellar, get the wine enthusiasts in for wine tasting sessions and make them feel special. Give them special member cards and watch as your sales jump. Perhaps give away free bottles of wine to these members and ask them to write a review on your blog. Because the same is true for wine enthusiasts - their friends all ask them where to buy a great cheap wine, and they will recommend you - in fact they will care about you which is a difficult thing to achieve - to make people care.

Strategies like these connect the opinion leaders deeply with your brand who then champion it to others. Over time this builds your reputation and equates to sales which are sustainable and consistent.

The coffee world is fantastic at this and this is where I have seen the best strategy. For cafe's, advertising isn't about fancy tv commercials or radio. It's about making sure that everyday, the regulars get an amazing coffee, the cafe remembers their name, and they get a bit of love and feel special. It's consistent dedication to quality and this is far more effective than any short term campaign. Doing this is also a retention initiative, and we all know that retention is easier than acquisition.

Black & Decker DE790 8 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker with Stainless Steel Thermal Carafe, White

Use the digital clock / timer and wake to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. In a hurry Enjoy the convenience of Pause-to-Serve to stop the brew cycle while you pour a quick cup full. For peace of mind the unit shuts off immediately after brewing and the thermal carafe keeps the coffee at optimal temperature for several hours.
Customer Review: Several problems for only "okay" coffee
I've owned this coffee maker for about 2 years. Problems: - carafe lid requires fooling around with to make it fit right - carafe drips onto counter every time we pour a cup of coffee - it is a little awkward to fill the water container so we often spill some water around the coffee maker - the filter basket has a gizmo on it that doesn't stay popped on And, now, the coffee maker no longer makes a full pot of coffee, shutting itself off after there is just an inch or so of coffee in the bottom of the carafe. When we push the on button, it will again make about an inch of coffee and shut itself off.
Customer Review: Nice Simplicity Spoiled by Terrible Build Quality
We've had this coffee maker for about nine months. It was originally purchased because I desired a coffee maker with a thermal carafe, but without all the bells and whistles. Unfortunately, the carafe has always leaked and it has been getting worse with time. In the past couple of months, the lid has broken off and is now falling apart. We're two adults that are very gentle on this appliance. It should have lasted much, much longer.

Ever asked yourself which is the best tv in the market? Have you got it yet or you have got to keep on searching? How will you know which the best is and which criteria are you going to use? I ask myself the same too. With plasma and LCD TVs coming out left, right and centre, capable of HDTV and EDTV, it's dizzying trying to keep up with the advances. Every company claims that they have the best TV.

I have been on lookout trying to find the best tv, and here's what I think so far; Plasma technology is in my opinion the most advanced technology on the market as of today, however am not sure they are the best Tvs. First of all, they are riddled with all sorts of technological issues from what I've been able to conclude. Of course the manufacturer doesn't really want you to know that, but from reading materials and other sources of information, they have a life expectancy of maybe 5 years utmost. Plasma tvs are probably the best when it comes to picture quality, but this has to be weighed against their still enthusiastic price tag, and low life span. Though they maybe not the best tvs, but they have the best combination of comfort and affordability.

In the near future though, LCD technology is going to be a sort of standard for both televisions and monitors, which may lead to the conclusion that most tvs will in fact be made using LCD technology. In comparison to the good old CRT TV which works great, are tried and tested, and always very affordable, though with not the best image quality; the money saved can be used to acquire a much bigger tv. After all is said and done, the best television is the one that meets your needs better than any other.

Mr. Coffee 109018-006-000 Frothing Tip for ECM20 Espresso & Cappuccino Maker

Mr. Coffee 109018-006-000 Frothing Tip for ECM20 Espresso & Cappuccino Maker

Some think that the best way to drink coffee is straight, black! However, is this right or wrong? There are so many different blends and coffee experiences to be had, why miss out on those. The blenders of the world spend plenty of time developing these new mixtures and they should be enjoyed. For instance, there is a marvelous blend that both Sumatran and Papua New Guinea. This is an incredible full bodied coffee. Further to this, Sumatra is also blended with Colombian Patron. This leaves the beans and coffee with a smoky dark roast.

Some of the flavors added to coffee can be quite a delicate experience as well. Consider: almond, vanilla, or cherry which added to a coffee can reduce the acid and add some sweetness. However, nothing seems to compare to the deliciousness of the Tahitian vanilla latte.

Mochas are popular all over the world, but there are some specifics. For instance, the Yemeni coffee needs a touch of dark chocolate melted and added to perfection. Meanwhile, the American roasts are excellent with Ghiradelli milk chocolate instead.

Coffee variations are endless and even more enjoyable. The coffee does not have to remain with beans, roasts, and flavor variations. There are also plenty of liqueurs and liquors that will add to any coffee experience. For instance, Jamaican coffee is excellent with pears, brown sugar, and lots of rum. Then there is also a brandy twist with apricots instead. Amaretto is sure to sweet any blend from Costa Rica.

Cocoa and coffee does not have to be limited either. It can be served hot, cold, or Mexican. These are all excellent treats, depending on the style, for winter or summer. So experiment with your coffee maker to see what flavors you can discover.

Frozen cappuccinos seem to increase in popularity every year; perhaps this is the combination of cold and energy on a hot summer day. Add some chocolate and mint to make it even more refreshing.

Then there are thousands of options for the decaf coffee lovers. Some of the choices include Italian Espresso, Marrakesh, and Dutchman. Although who knows why coffee lovers love decaf. Perhaps they do not need to wake up in the morning.

Sometimes nuttiness is a quality of poor quality beans, but this is not always true. Macadamia and coffee, especially with white chocolate is a to die for treat. Or perhaps even raspberry or coconut can be explored. Just a touch of flavor is wanted though, because coffee should taste like coffee. The only complaint now then would be that coffee just cannot be tasted plain anymore, it must be mixed.

Mr. Coffee TM3-2 3-Quart Ice Tea Maker

3 quart ice tea pot. Ready to serve in 10 minutes. Steeping basket keeps tea immersed in water just short of boiling. Light indicator when brewing is done. Warranty: 1 year UL approved. Estimated Unit Shipping Length ( ): 16. Estimated Unit Shipping Width ( ): 13. Estimated Unit Shipping Height ( ): 11. Estimated Unit Shipping Weight or Dim Weight (lbs): 7.
    Customer Review: Not worth it...
I used to use the old style tea maker years ago (I was happy with that one). I wanted to try a tea maker again, so I bought this one. The first round of tea was very weak. I put in an additional filter to see if that would help the water brew longer, but it was still weak. I returned it to the store, and this is how I am currently making tea: I use my regular coffee pot (12 cup capacity) with 6-9 bags of tea (depending on how strong I want it). I have a 1 gallon pitcher, and I fill that up with ice. When the tea has finished brewing, I add sugar if I want, then I pour the hot liquid over the ice. It makes the tea cold and ready to drink, plus I have a lot more than just 2-3 quarts. This works just fine for me--I don't have to worry about a cracking pitcher because the glass coffee pot can handle the heat. I also do not have to store an extra base housing unit that really only serves one function. I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but it is essentially the exact same thing that is being done with the tea maker, except you don't have to buy any additional equipment.
    Customer Review: No-hassle tea
With Mr Coffee Ice Tea Maker, you never have to wait for a pot to boil again. Set it up (quick and easy), turn it on, and then get on with your other chores.

To summarize something as phenomenonally successful as Starbucks coffee history might be a challenge. Many volumes have been written on the subject, it is examined and taught in business schools, and whole semesters are dedicated to the marketing genius of the company. The amazing success of Starbucks business model certainly deserves commendation if not adoration in the business world.

The story of Starbucks coffee history begins in Seattle in 1971, when three friends with a passion for fresh coffee, Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl and Gordon Bowker, opened a small shop and began selling fresh-roasted, gourmet coffee beans and brewing and roasting accessories.

In 1980 Zev Siegl sold out to pursue other ventures. By that time Starbucks was the largest roaster in Washington with six retail outlets. In 1981 the small coffee company caught the attention of Howard Schultz, a plastics salesman that noted the large quantity of plastic drip-brewing thermoses that they were buying from Hammarplast, the Swedish manufacturer that Shchultz represented here in the U.S.

In 1982 Starbucks coffee history was changed forever when Baldwin hired the energetic Schultz as the new head of marketing and shortly thereafter sent him to an international housewares show in Milan, Italy in 1983. Schultz found himself infatuated with the vibrant coffee culture of Italy. While in nearby Verona, Schultz had his first caffe latte and, as he observed the cafe patrons chatting and laughing joyously while sipping their coffees in the elegant surroundings, inspiration struck.

In what he describes as an epiphany, the idea hit him, "why not create community gathering places like the great coffee house of Italy in the United States?" he wondered. This idea would place Starbucks coffee history into the annuls of business journals for decades to come.

However, his idea was not well received by Baldwin as he wasnt too keen on getting into the restaurant business and distracting him from his original plan of selling whole beans. But he did let him test a small espresso bar in the corner of one of the stores. It was an immediate success and Schultz branched out on his own and opened Il Giornale, a coffee house named after Italys largest newspaper, The Daily.

In 1987 Starbucks was up for sale and Schultz raised the $3.8 million by convincing investors of his vision, one hundred and twenty-five outlets in the next five years. Schultz modified the Starbucks bare-breasted mermaid logo into a more socially acceptable figure, changed the name of Il Giornale to Starbucks and converted the six existing Starbucks roasting shops into elegant, comfortable coffee houses. Starbucks coffee history was just was beginning to take shape.

Shultz exceeded his goal of one hundred and twenty-five stores in five years, in 1992 there were 165 cafes in operation. Today there are over 8,000 stores in 30 countries and annual revenues in excess of $7.5 billion.

B&D DCM2000B COFFEE MAKER BLACK 12CUP, Coffee, Tea & Espresso, Home & Garden

Its surprising that something as simple as the usual coffee mug can be such a powerful marketing tool. Imprinting your message or logo on the side of something that is used daily is a subtle way to impart a message to prospective clients and those around them.

Promotional coffee mugs can easily be decorated with a marketing message for creating strong and lasting brand recall.

Getting your company's advertising into homes and offices can sometimes be a challenge but not so if you give away something that is useful and free. Your promotional coffee mug can serve as your vehicle to maintain "top of mind" presence in the minds of your clients making yours the first name they call the next time they are in the market for the products or services you carry. Another reason to give away custom mugs is that it is a relatively inexpensive means of advertising.

1.Commemorate events such as a product launch, store sale or tradeshow by giving people a promotional mug to remind them of the great time they had to associate positive feelings with dealing with your company. These positive feelings have been known to influence buying behavior by making people seek out your company because of the positive association they have from past experience.

2.As "teasers". Using promotional mugs to inform people of upcoming promotions by printing event dates and location. This way you ensure strong attendance for your company events because you can imprint a date on people's minds months before!

3.Drive traffic to your store. Believe it or not people will go a long way to get something for free. Adding a simple line to your advertising such as "present this ad to get a free coffee mug"Use the promise of a free coffee mug as an incentive to visit your store. The increase in traffic will bring on an increase in sales not to mention that they are bringing home your advertisement through the promotional coffee mug.

4.Be remembered at trade shows. People are often overwhelmed at trade shows by the sheer number of displays they see. Its better if they associate your products with an object they received from you. Your custom coffee mug will remind them who you are, what you sell and how to reach you.

5.Employee rewards - It does look impressive when you walk in to an office and the employees use mugs imprinted with the company logo and name. Makes you feel like you're in a Fortune 500 company. That gives a strong first impression and a great image of you.

Equally important is what you choose to print on your promotional coffee mug. If you're well known maybe you can go by with just a logo but we recommend you put in as much information as possible without detracting from the beauty of a mug. Include your logo, contact details, name and website always.

Sanyo SAC-MST6 Coffee/Tea Maker with Built-In Grinder, Black

Your two favorite beverages (coffee and tea) can be made using this one machine. From Sanyo, this small appliance lets you brew coffee via a soft shower drip system for enhanced flavor. Use it, also, for brewing tea. A specially-designed basket circulates the water and tea leaves, capturing tea's true flavor. In addition to brewing, this Sanyo coffee and tea maker also comes with a built-in grinder so your coffee beans are ground right before brewing for exceptionally fresh flavor. A built-in charcoal filter also adds to the fresh tastes of your coffee and tea. A Keep Warm function keeps your beverage at the optimum temperature once brewed. The coffee and tea maker has a 6-cup capacity and comes with a removable water tank so you can fill at the sink. The unit, with its space-saving design, takes up minimal space on your countertop. Included is a bilingual instructional manual.
Customer Review: Just right for my use
I've had this coffee maker a month now and use it daily. It makes excellant coffee. The basket inside the pot is different but not a problem once I got used to it. Once I had a few grounds in the coffee but then started removing the basket and dumping the grounds before pouring and solved that issue. A pause and serve would be a nice feature if you're in a big hurry, however, I don't miss that because it brews fast. The only improvement I would like to have is an auto shut off, but I've gotten used to making sure I cut it off when I get my last cup. The grinder is quiet and easy to clean since the grinding chamber lifts off the motor. One full pot provides me two xtra large mugs of coffee and one regular size mug for my wife. Overall this was the perfect coffee maker for us.
Customer Review: Most sensible coffeemaker yet.
After eyeing this product for over a year at a local retailer, I finally asked my children for one for Mother's Day this year. I make coffee about three times a week - in other words, I'm no addict or even particularly an aficionado - but I love this coffeemaker! Although the grinder is the simple sort, not burr type, it does well enough, and the removable grinder cup makes it a snap to keep clean. Unlike some combination grinder/brewers, there is no risk of steam ruining the grinding mechanism because the operations are well separated. The water well is easy to read and easy to fill, even without removing it from the body of the machine. It doesn't hurt either that there is a suggested guideline on how much water to add for iced coffee or tea. I actually like that the brewbasket fits into the carafe instead of being attached to the machine. This is a much cleaner design. The heating element does not turn itself off, so there might be old hot coffee, but never old cold coffee, unless you planned it that way. My only caution is regarding the #2 Medelco gold filter that so many users recommend. I just got mine in the mail and it is not a perfect fit. It definitely pops up. I really like the way this coffee maker looks, performs, and cleans up. Get your's through Amazon for the best price.

Most of us live busy lives these days and for all too many of us exercise often takes a back seat to everything else that we have going on. However, at a time when most of us are engaging in less and less physical activity and eating more and more prepared convenience foods, fitting some exercise into our daily schedule is becoming increasingly important. So, if you find yourself falling into this category then here are five simple ideas for fitting a little exercise into your working day.

    1. Take a packed lunch with you to work. Most of us nowadays pop out for lunch, often with some of our co-workers, and often choose less than healthy food options which we wash down with a large cup of coffee or two. Instead take your packed lunch out for a walk (or better still a run) and, when you get tired, stop off to eat.

    2. Try 'working out' instead of 'vegging out'. At the end of most working days there are usually a couple of programs on the television that I like to catch to help me unwind and relax. However, instead of stretching out on the couch (probably with a packet of biscuits and a cup of coffee) try doing some exercise and watching the television at the same time. This can be as simple as doing some stretching exercises, sit ups or light weight lifting or, if you are really serious about your exercise, why not set up a small home gym in the house and watch your favorite program while using an exercise bike or a treadmill.

    3. Try to reduce the number of coffee breaks you have during the day. It is surprising just how coffee breaks can eat into the day and if you make a note of how long you spend on coffee breaks in an average day you will probably be amazed at just how much time they all add up to. One idea might be to simply roll these breaks up into just a couple of longer breaks each day and use this time to take some exercise, even if it is just walking around your office building or climbing a few flights of stairs. You will also find that the endorphins which your body produces as a result of even a little bit of exercise will do more to stimulate you that your cup of coffee!

    4. Make exercise part of your social life. We all like to get out with our friends and chew over the problems of the world but, instead of sitting around in your local bar or coffee shop to do so, why not find a more challenging venue and combine your socializing with a game of badminton, squash or even bowling.

    5. Try a little housework. Okay, I can hear a lot of you throwing up your hands in horror but many forms of housework such as cleaning the kitchen, washing down the bathroom, mowing the lawn (not with your favorite ride-on lawn mower), and digging over the vegetable patch are all great forms of exercise. They don't do your house any harm either.

These are just a few simple ideas and I am sure that you can come up with many more of your own. It really doesn't matter what you do, as long as you fit some exercise into your daily routine. And remember, if you haven't done any exercise for a while, take it slow at first and build yourself up gradually.
